Pharmacy Technician Leader

Job Description:
This is a dynamic leadership role within the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the delivery of high-quality patient care. As a Specialist Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for leading a team of ward-based technicians and managing their induction, training, and appraisal.
You will work closely with Clinical Pharmacists to develop, implement, and maintain medicines management services at ward level, including medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients' own drugs, providing original pack dispensing, counselling patients about their medicines, and coordinating supply of discharge medicines.
Additionally, you will assist the Medication Safety Pharmacist in developing, delivering, and evaluating the medication safety programme for the trust, aligning with objectives set by the Chief Pharmacist and Director of Medicines Optimisation.
In this role, you will promote safe, effective, and cost-effective drug use, facilitating patient admission and enhancing continuity of care across the primary/secondary interface. You will also carry out pharmacy practice research and clinical audit in this area of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of ward-based technicians and manage their induction, training, and appraisal.
- Develop, implement, and maintain medicines management services at ward level.
- Assist the Medication Safety Pharmacist in developing, delivering, and evaluating the medication safety programme.
- Promote safe, effective, and cost-effective drug use.
- Carry out pharmacy practice research and clinical audit.
Requirements:
- Holds an NVQ Pharmacy Service Level 3 / with accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and the Practice of Pharmacy Technicians) or equivalent.
- Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or working towards.
- Awareness of Equal Opportunities.
- Flexibility with regard to changes in work schedule.
Salary: £42,939 to £50,697 per annum inclusive of outer HCAs. This salary range is based on the company's location and industry standards.
