Job Summary

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Whole Family Team as a locum, covering a year's maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with families who may have a complex relationship with the service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work in a flexible and outreach way to meet the needs of families and young people referred to the team.
  • Hold a complex caseload within the multi-disciplinary team, undertaking clinical assessments and offering highly skilled treatments or therapies.
  • Communicate complex information in a sensitive manner, dealing with service users who may be hostile or present challenging behaviours.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical records and communicate effectively with referrers and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the quality, safety, and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology and current registration with the Health Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a Counselling Psychologist.
  • A high level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management.
  • Demonstrate equality, diversity, and inclusion awareness and application of EDI issues.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Training in trauma interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, or NET.
  • Experience of involvement in project work, such as quality improvement.
