Compliance Health Safety and Environmental Manager

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Health Safety and Environmental Manager to join our client's site in Birmingham on a full-time, permanent contract.
About the Role:The successful candidate will provide competent advice and guidance to the leadership team and site on Health, Safety, Environmental, and Compliance matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the site integrated management system within the framework of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, BS EN 15593, FSC, PEFC, MCERTs, and the site EPR Installation Permit requirements.
- Leading the Compliance department, including line management and mentoring of the full-time support (Compliance Assistant).
- Participating in the activities of the Senior Team and being a fully functioning member of that team.
- Introducing other compliance-related systems and project work as required by the organisation.
- Being on the Duty Managers rota, which involves being on call approximately 1 week in 8.
- Handling all out-of-hours HSE and Compliance issues.
- Carrying out Emergency Team duties with the Senior Management Team.
- Traveling occasionally to take part in group and external conferences and meetings.
- Communicating all Compliance issues Company-wide, whether locally on the plant or collectively at a Team Briefing.
- Reporting sustainability, environmental, health, and safety statistics in an efficient and timely manner to relevant stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience in a similar role, with a good working knowledge of the Environmental Permitting regulations, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001.
- Knowledge of EN 15593 GMP standard, BS EN ISO 50001, FSC, and PEFC Chain of Custody Standards & MCERTS would be an advantage.
- A NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 in Health and Safety or equivalent (or 5+ years experience in a safety leadership role and a NEBOSH Certificate).
- A working knowledge of PUWER Regulations 1998 and Management Health Safety.
- Grad IOSH or equivalent is essential, but if you are working towards Chartered IOSH Status, that would be advantageous.
- Understanding of HAZOP or experience with its use.
- Relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or heavy industry and construction.
