About the Role

This vacancy is for an 8B Clinical Psychologist position in our Older Adults service, which provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals aged 65 and above. As a member of our team, you will work closely with other professionals, including nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers, to deliver person-centered care that addresses the complex needs of older adults.

You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing evidence-based interventions to improve the mental health and wellbeing of our patients. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of our service by participating in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and education and training programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical psychology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. You will also possess a deep understanding of the complexities of older adult mental health and be committed to delivering high-quality care that respects the dignity and autonomy of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of older adults to identify mental health needs and develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions, including psychotherapy, counseling, and medication management, to address the complex needs of older adults.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver person-centered care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and education and training programs to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our service.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and carers to promote patient-centered care and support.
Requirements
  • Doctoral-level qualification in clinical psychology (or equivalent) registered with the Health Professions Council.
  • Postgraduate training in one or more specialized areas of psychological practice, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or psychodynamic therapy.
  • Experience working with older adults with mental health conditions, including dementia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care that respects the dignity and autonomy of patients.
