Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for meeting business performance commitments to key stakeholders and overseeing all aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver new products from initial prototypes to volume manufacturing, ensuring they meet specifications and cost requirements.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the NPI process and quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Ensure all projects are fully auditable and work with the Quality Manager to implement quality improvements.
  • Meet deadlines and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Deploy NPI processes, meeting design milestone objectives and utilizing tools like Gantt and Project Status.
  • Assist Product Engineering projects, focusing on agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Implement quality improvements, including leading and maintaining Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and introducing risk mitigation.
  • Support the technical responsibility for Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
  • Classify and distribute assigned Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering in cost reduction of processes and provide product knowledge for ongoing production.

Requirements

  • Engineering or Science degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for photonics or fibre optics.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing role, with photonics or fibre optics experience being advantageous.
  • Experience in technical design, process development, and project management.
  • Proven internal presentation skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Understanding and experience of Project Management methods and tools, as well as knowledge of Health and Safety to a level where risk assessments can be carried out and effectively managed.
