Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Training Programme Director for Dental Core Training in Community Dental Services (CDS). The successful candidate will be accountable to the Postgraduate Dental Dean via the Associate Dental Dean and will play a crucial part in the direction of CDS DCT training programmes across Yorkshire and the Humber.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of postgraduate dental training programmes at this level and possess strong leadership and communication skills. They will also be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team committed to implementing the Dental Education Reform Programme.

The post will be available on the basis of a secondment arrangement to NHSE WT&E remunerated at their Pay Scale.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Induction into the training programmes
  • Involvement in the RCP process
  • Delivery of Education
  • Involvement in Recruitment
  • Managing and supporting trainees in difficulty
  • Appointment, training, support and management of their Educational Supervisor team
  • Attendance at DCT Board and Strategy Planning meetings
  • Innovating pathways towards the Dental Education Reform Programme
  • Engage in annual appraisal of their role with the ADD

Person Specification

The successful candidate will hold a registration with the GDC and a primary dental healthcare qualification. They will also have considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context and be currently working within the Community Dental Services within Yorkshire and the Humber.

Key Skills

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others. They will also have strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills, as well as excellent organisational and time management skills.
