About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a Key Stage 5 pupil in our specialist provision. You will work closely with the student to create a supportive and nurturing environment, ensuring they feel safe, understood, and empowered to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to a KS5 pupil, promoting academic and personal growth.
- Employ a trauma-informed approach to foster a safe and supportive learning environment, addressing the unique needs of the student.
- Assist with academic tasks, emotional regulation, and social development, helping the student to build confidence and self-esteem.
- Build a trusting relationship with the pupil, demonstrating empathy and understanding, and collaborating with teachers and other staff members to implement individualized support plans.
Requirements:
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and their application in a school setting.
- Excellent empathy, patience, and resilience, with the ability to work effectively with students who may have experienced trauma.
- Experience working with young people, preferably within a school setting, and a commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Able to build positive and supportive relationships with students, and collaborate with teachers and other staff members to achieve shared goals.
