Main Purpose of Job:

The main purpose of this job is to support the business throughout all stages of the project life cycle. With experience in a similar role, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to bring a new perspective to a project and identify where additional practices or procedures would enhance project delivery. You should be keen to take on fresh challenges and expand your existing knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting projects.

Main Tasks of Job:

  1. Collaborate with the tender team to provide technical input and alternative proposals as appropriate.
  2. Identify potential risks and provide suggestions for mitigation.
  3. Attend post-tender meetings with the main contractor/team to discuss value engineering/design solutions.
  4. Support the project team in managing the design team, including external consultants/sub-contractors.
  5. Support the project team in the design process using commercial, contractual, program, and technical expertise.
  6. Investigate and implement alternatives and design proposals that result in cost savings or other efficiencies.
  7. Present design alternatives to the main contractor/team for approval (where required).
  8. Assist in ensuring that the design complies with our contractual requirements, current legislation, best practice, etc.
  9. Assist in ensuring that design information is of the right quality and is issued in line with project timescales.
  10. Assist in reviewing drawings for technical errors, providing guidance on best practice, and mitigation of risk.
  11. Ensure the operations team is updated with current best practices or particular risks.
  12. Assist in the technical development of commissioning procedures.
  13. Direct the operational staff as required into the technical requirements of the commissioning process.
  14. Periodic reviews of the project commissioning process.
  15. Involvement in commissionability studies.
  16. Review commissioning records for completeness, omissions, and inaccuracies.
  17. Support the operations staff in the management of the commissioning of the supply chain/sub-contractors.
  18. Provide assistance in fault finding/rectification of any issues.
  19. Support operations staff with post-contract defect/issues analysis and/or rectification.
  20. Manage the production of design/drawing information, including setting up and monitoring progress by way of TIDPs and IRS for each project.

Qualification:

  1. A third-level education in building services engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

  1. Experience in the design of MEP installations.
  2. A proven track record in a similar role.
  3. A driving license.
