About the Role

This exciting opportunity is part of a strategic development to build world-leading behavioural science research within the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis.

The successful candidate will work on a study evaluating the use of population-based genetic testing for the prevention and early detection of cancer (PROTECT-C).

About You

You will have a PhD or equivalent postgraduate research experience in Health Psychology or a similar discipline and undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (Psychology) or equivalent experience.

You will have considerable experience carrying out in-depth qualitative interviews and analysing qualitative data (e.g. thematic analysis) and experience of research in health psychology or another applied health discipline. Knowledge of genetic testing or cancer screening would be an advantage.

About the Institute & Centre

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to 450 staff, over 100 PhD students and c500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine.

The Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis (CCSPED) brings together globally leading researchers focusing on cancer prevention, cancer screening and detection and early diagnosis across two units. CCSPED also hosts the cross-cutting Cancer Behavioural Science group and the CRUK-funded Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU, Director, Sasieni).

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of March 2025. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £43,305 - £45,622 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
