Product Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Specialist to join our Head office team in the West Midlands or London. As a vital member of the regulatory affairs team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our product portfolio. Reporting directly to the Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting NPD projects by leading the safety assessment of all new products and conducting due diligence checks on existing products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of safety assessments to support global product development from innovation through to launch.
  • Support with specification sign off for products aimed at vulnerable populations.
  • Complete CPSR for cosmetic NPD projects.
  • Support with botanical ingredient reviews and provide professional toxicological review on the matter.
  • Handle adverse reaction complaint escalations and provide professional toxicological review.
  • Provide support and expertise for safety-related product claims on products across all marketing channels.
  • Assessment of potential for adverse events in a population.
  • Final safety assessment and ensure that products on the market are safe through their lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of news and potential evolving changes in the market which could have an impact on our product portfolio's safety.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Toxicology. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience of safety assessment in FMCG industry, with a demonstrable level of previous experience in a product safety management role.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment and working as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external authorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of botanical ingredients.
  • Professional qualifications - DABT, UKRT are a plus.
