Job Title: Sports Coach

An inclusive and supportive environment is being created in Leeds to cater to the diverse needs of children with special educational needs. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sports Coach to make a positive impact on the lives of these children.

Job Summary:

As a Sports Coach, you will play a crucial role in supporting and engaging children with special educational needs through sports. Your expertise will be used to keep children active, foster teamwork, and enhance their overall well-being. You will work closely with SEN staff and other educators to tailor activities to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an inclusive sports plan that caters to the diverse needs of all students.
  • Engage children in various physical activities that promote fitness, coordination, and social interaction.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Work closely with SEN staff and other educators to tailor activities to individual needs.
  • Build strong, trustworthy relationships with students to understand their unique challenges and motivations.
  • Employ strategies to manage and positively redirect challenging behaviors.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, adapting plans as necessary to ensure continued engagement and development.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and its benefits for mental and physical health.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Sports Coach, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and experience working with children who have SEN.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Ability to create and adapt inclusive sports plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for making a difference in children's lives.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors with a calm and positive approach.
