Senior Counsel Leader - Head of Legal

This is a unique opportunity to join our team as a Senior Counsel Leader, driving our strategic direction and shaping the future of our company.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal guidance, ensuring compliance, and advising on legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and project teams to develop and implement the group's legal strategies.

This will involve reviewing, reporting on, and negotiating building contracts and ancillary documents.

  • Legal Strategy and Advice:
  • Develop and implement effective legal risk management processes to support business objectives.
  • Advise senior management on legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.
  • Non-contentious Construction:
  • Manage contract administration processes to mitigate risk in client and supply chain contracts.
  • Ensure robust processes are in place to manage contractual claims and disputes.
  • Contentious Construction:
  • Oversee the management of any legal disputes, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
  • Provide advice on resolving contractual claims and disputes on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Qualified solicitor with a background in construction law.
  • Proven track record of advising senior management on legal and compliance issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of English construction law, corporate governance, and dispute resolution procedures.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience in handling complex construction contracts and managing disputes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance legal risks with commercial objectives.
