Silverways School, a leading specialist day school for children and young people with autism, is seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) & Designated Safeguarding Lead to join their team.

About the Role

This pivotal position involves overseeing the development, operation, support, and management of our Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. Additionally, the successful candidate will hold lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and promoting inclusive practices across the school.

The ideal candidate will have QTS, experience of working with children with SEND and ASC, and the ability to work with pupils and their families in a sensitive and positive way. A sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its application, as well as an understanding of the principles behind school improvement, including school improvement planning, monitoring and reviewing progress, are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of SEN provision, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all pupils.
  • Development and implementation of strategies to promote inclusive practices across the school.
  • Collaboration with educationalists and non-educationalists to ensure effective communication and information sharing.
