Electronics Laboratory Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electronics Laboratory Maintenance Technician to join our team at The Clever Fish Recruitment Limited.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of teaching laboratories, and providing technical support to staff and students.
- Prepare and maintain teaching laboratories, including setting up equipment and materials for practical classes and other events.
- Act as the first point of contact for staff and students to report technical issues, and escalate when necessary.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, including handling chemicals, hazardous waste management, and conducting safety checks on equipment.
- Assist with stock control, including conducting stock-takes, ordering, and maintaining necessary supplies.
- Perform basic inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on lab equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching.
- Help induct and train staff, students, and visitors on how to work safely in the lab environment.
- Carry out general lab maintenance tasks, including waste disposal, and ensure labs are clean and operational.
- Arrange external visits for equipment repair and servicing.
- Be flexible and assist other departments or areas when necessary, learning new techniques as required.
Requirements:
- Qualification in a science or engineering-related subject (e.g., degree, HND, HNC, Level 4 NVQ) or relevant technical work experience.
- Ability to carry out basic laboratory tasks, such as setting up equipment and apparatus.
- Interest in laboratory teaching equipment, including electronic equipment and components.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Manual handling skills and familiarity with practical, hands-on activities.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments, COSHH, PAT testing, manual handling, etc.
- Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Basic technical problem-solving skills, such as conducting inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
