Job Summary

The Department of Technology at Norfolk State University seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach courses in Architecture Drafting Technology, beginning August 2023. The successful candidate will contribute to program and curriculum development, advise and mentor students, and participate in recruitment activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of courses, including materials of construction, methods of construction, architectural drafting, and AutoCAD.
  • Contribute to program and curriculum development.
  • Advise and mentor students, and participate in recruitment activities.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation to engage with industry on applied research projects.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and accreditation activities.
Requirements
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Have a M.S. degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering with Construction Management concentration, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful teaching and scholarship.
  • Possess good communication skills, and have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching on the higher education level and ABET accreditation experience.
  • Experience with Blackboard technology.
  • Have at least three years of relevant industrial experience.
