About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Neurological Physiotherapist to join our team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert neurological physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex neurological conditions.

Main Responsibilities
  • To manage a caseload of patients with complex neurological conditions, using advanced clinical reasoning and critical thinking to support assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • To provide expert information, advice, and consultation on the management of patients with neurological-related conditions to healthcare professionals and managers within and external to the Trust.
  • To educate and train physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, and other healthcare professionals in the management of neurological and HTLV-associated disorders.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and development of own CPD, identifying and contributing to the evidence base of Physiotherapy and neuro-rehabilitation/Neurology.
  • To act as a clinical source of expertise to manage risk and monitor and improve the standards of service provision in Neurology and the HTLV service through the implementation of audit, development of protocols, and the use of evidence-based approaches and routine evaluation.
  • To foster a climate of innovation and research through multidisciplinary working and to develop an appropriate research programme in relation to the HTLV service.
  • To be actively involved in professional activities within the Physiotherapy profession and outside the profession, e.g. multi-disciplinary forums and networks.

Person Specification

Essential
  • Professional qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of postgraduate training and education relevant to neurology specialist area.
Desirable
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
  • Previous work with rare diseases.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Essential
  • Negotiation and influencing skills, e.g. interagency collaboration and projects for patient care and research.
  • Leadership of the MDT.
  • Competent IT skills.
Desirable
  • Interest in infectious causes of neurological disease in general and HTLV infection in particular.
  • Experience of running research and audit and implementing innovative practices.
Experience

Essential
  • Proven track record of experience in a speciality area showing broad clinical background, including experience at a senior level in a speciality area of Neurosciences.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways, and using outcome measures.
  • Experience in implementing evidence-based practice in speciality.
  • Experience of service development and change management.
Desirable
  • Experience in audit, research, and/or service development.
  • Evidence of presentation at local/National Conferences.
  • Recent, relevant work in an NHS environment.
  • Experience of using clinical governance framework to monitor and improve quality of patient care.
  • Clinical research experience.
