**Job Overview**

We are seeking a Part-Time Spiritual Care Provider to join our team at Justice, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and supportive care to prisoners and staff.

About the Role:

  • Provide religious and pastoral care to prisoners and staff, respecting their individual beliefs and traditions.
  • Facilitate worship, study, and spiritual programs that cater to diverse faiths and backgrounds.
  • Contribute to policy development, ensuring that chaplaincy services meet the needs of our community.
  • Mentor and support other chaplains and volunteers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Be part of a proactive team that ensures accessible and available chaplaincy care at all times.
  • Lead worship and prayer/faith-specific meetings, creating a safe space for reflection and connection.
  • Offer pastoral care to prisoners, helping them navigate crisis situations and provide support when needed.
  • Nurture chaplaincy volunteers, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to our community.
  • Work collaboratively with other chaplains and managing chaplains to maintain and provide facilities for worship and prayer.
  • Educate your prison community about relevant religious events, coordinating establishment support as necessary.
  • Forge links with local faith communities and agencies, exploring opportunities for prisoner mentorship and support upon release.
  • Participate in developing innovative ways to improve and achieve targets, ensuring all relevant administration, data collection, and analysis are completed accurately.
  • Organize and deliver Faith Awareness Training for staff, promoting understanding and respect for diverse faiths.
  • Undertake Diocesan Ministerial Reviews, demonstrating your commitment to excellence.
  • Provide support to the establishment in the absence of the managing chaplain, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Actively support the Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) process, prioritizing the well-being of prisoners.

  • You must meet the Faith Eligibility Requirements for your chosen faith, outlined within the Group Profile.
  • Able to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrate empathy, active listening, and counseling skills to create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Exhibit leadership skills, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to reflect on performance and feedback, committing to ongoing professional development.
