Portfolio Delivery Manager

Birmingham - Hybrid (2 office days)

Permanent FTE

We are seeking a skilled Portfolio Delivery Manager to join our team at a leading specialist insurer with a global footprint. With over 2,000 employees worldwide, this insurer offers a wide range of insurance products and services, catering to the diverse needs of clients across various industries.

This role will be responsible for developing strategic initiatives and regulatory projects, working with Project Managers and Delivery Leads to drive clear and simple communication. The successful candidate will support budgeting, drive the development of the Capacity Management capability, and support stakeholders in considering their capacity for change.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Programme, Project, and Portfolio services to assigned portfolio(s) across the Enterprise.
  2. Collate and challenge updates from Project Managers / Delivery Leads.
  3. Utilise lessons learned to improve future delivery success.
  4. Identify and assist in the definition of dependencies and manage impact awareness.
  5. Facilitate forums to promote visibility and alignment between activities/projects within the portfolio (e.g., QBR).
  6. Consider synergies and common needs across the portfolio (e.g., SME capacity/resourcing, dependencies, support from other change services such as Procurement).
  7. Support budgeting and cost control in the context of the Change Funding model.
  8. Highlight conflicts between BAU and Portfolio needs.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Portfolio Delivery Manager, Portfolio Manager, or Portfolio Analyst.
  2. Skilled in time management, balancing competing needs, coaching and education, and providing feedback.
  3. Knowledge of applications and tools (MS Office Suite; JIRA; Confluence; PPM Tools - Planview Adaptive Work).
  4. Experience prioritising project pipelines/backlog processes.
  5. Knowledge of business operating models and metrics (OKRs, KPIs, etc.).
  6. Knowledge of P3M and PMO theories and practices, including maturity models.
  7. Typical financial processes (Budgeting, Forecasting, Actuals, Alignment, and Financial Cycles).
  8. Service management (ITIL).
  9. Change delivery methods (MSP, Prince2, SDLC, Scrum, SAFe).
  10. Corporate language and communication.
