Job Description

This Lecturer in Engineering Geology position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the teaching and scholarship of our esteemed School of Earth and Environment. As part of our dynamic team, you will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching on postgraduate taught and undergraduate courses, with a focus on geotechnical site investigation.

Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering modules, lectures, and workshops for both undergraduate and Masters programmes. You will also be involved in leading field-based teaching, student project supervision, pedagogic scholarship, and administrative duties within the School, Faculty, and University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess students across various levels of higher education, including postgraduate taught and undergraduate programmes.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum content and delivery, ensuring excellent employability outcomes.
  • Supervise student projects, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
  • Pursue pedagogic scholarship, engaging in research and knowledge exchange activities that enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in administrative duties, contributing to the smooth operation of the School, Faculty, and University.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will possess a PhD in Geosciences or Geotechnical Engineering, or a related cognate discipline. Your background should include either academia or industrial practice in a relevant subject area. Additionally, you must demonstrate leadership skills, such as course or commercial project leadership, and the ability to teach effectively at all levels within higher education.

We are seeking candidates who can showcase evidence of effective partnership building, enabling the delivery of an applied curriculum with outstanding employability outcomes.
