Job Title: Consultant Obstetrician

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a Consultant Obstetrician to join our team at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality obstetric care to our patients, including managing the Labour Ward, Antenatal clinics, Section Lists, and Maternity Assessment Unit.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert obstetric care to patients, including managing Labour Ward, Antenatal clinics, Section Lists, and Maternity Assessment Unit.
  • Work collaboratively with existing consultants and the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care for patients.
  • Participate in on-call obstetric rota, including weekdays and weekends, to provide 24/7 care to patients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures to improve patient care.
  • Engage in teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students to ensure the next generation of obstetricians is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to provide excellent care.
Requirements:
  • Full GMC Registration
  • CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' CESR must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of date of the AAC
  • ATSM - Advanced Labour Ward / High risk antenatal
  • ATSM - Maternal Medicine with interest for Perinatal Mental Health or equivalent
  • Safeguarding Level 3 or above
  • Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)
Working Arrangements:

This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands. Clinical duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites with a total of 9. You will participate in a 1:14 on weekday on-call obstetric rota including 1:14 weekends.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
