We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our Orthogeriatric Care service. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust service to provide high-quality care to patients with hip fractures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide effective medical leadership to the staff working on the Hip Fracture ward
- Collaborate with Orthopaedic and Anaesthetic colleagues to facilitate timely Orthopaedic surgery
- Lead the clinical team to assess and optimize patients for theatre, including providing diagnostic, pre- and post-operative care underpinned by Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)
- Lead the care and rehabilitation of hip fracture patients until discharge, including assessment and management of falls risk and future fracture risk
- Provide outpatient clinics or another specialty session depending on the interests of the applicant and needs of the county-wide service
- Conduct weekend post take ward rounds for COTE Medicine on a 1 in 10 fixed session rota (no on-call)
- Ensure clinical practice is conducted in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of our Divisions and Trusts agreed objectives
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in Orthogeriatric Medicine and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge
