Role Overview

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to lead our Glaucoma service. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful contribution to patient care and advance our services.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in managing complex cataract cases and glaucoma theatre lists, as well as experience in participating in departmental clinical audit meetings and managing clinics and theatre lists.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management of complex cataract cases and glaucoma theatre lists.
  • Participation in departmental clinical audit meetings.
  • Management of clinics and theatre lists, ensuring seamless delivery of patient care.
Requirements
  • Primary Medical Qualification (e.g., MBBS, MBChB)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of appointment
  • Higher Degree (e.g., MD, MSc)
  • Special skills training in the specialty/fellowship
  • Evidence of substantial commitment to the specialty, including clinical experience and ability to offer an expert clinical opinion
