Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Lead to direct the work of GP committees, supporting the National Negotiations & Representation (NNR) function within the BMA. This role involves overseeing the delivery of committee objectives, providing strategic advice, and independently leading on discrete projects.
About the Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of healthcare by working closely with committees representing over 45,000 GPs and 10,000 GP trainees across the UK. As a key member of the GP Committees secretariat team, you will be responsible for advising senior committee members, setting and ensuring the delivery of committee objectives, researching and drafting briefs, and collaborating with staff teams across the BMA.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on high-profile items of business, including work with the Government and NHS England & Improvement.
- Setting and ensuring the successful delivery of committee objectives.
- Researching and drafting briefs and reports for committee members.
- Working with colleagues across the BMA to develop and implement policy.
- Collaborating and co-ordinating with staff teams across the BMA.
- Oversight of governance and budgetary arrangements, along with elections for committees.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrable strategic awareness and highly adept influencing skills.
- Previous experience of managing and motivating a team.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to build strong relationships.
- Excellent writing skills and experience of drafting high-quality policy reports.
- Strong organisational skills and experience of project management or oversight of multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Strong collaboration skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Able to grasp new policy concepts quickly and undertake research and review of policy issues.
What We Offer
- An estimated annual salary of £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience.
