Outpatient Support Assistant

We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our dynamic Outpatients team at the Royal South Hants hospital in Southampton.
As a Healthcare Assistant in our Outpatients department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care, supporting doctors and registered nurses with patient monitoring and care duties.
Main Responsibilities- Carry out routine patient monitoring and care duties, ensuring patients receive a high standard of care.
- Investigate patient pathways, update patient records accurately, and document patient care.
- Prepare patients for treatments or surgery, ensuring all necessary checks are conducted prior to each procedure.
- Perform phlebotomy when required, working closely with Lab Technicians to provide detailed information about patients and blood samples.
- Conduct administrative tasks, including collecting patient information, photocopying documents, and transporting patient paperwork to other departments.
- Monitor and report potential health, safety, and hygiene hazards in the department.

Person SpecificationWe are seeking candidates with:
- Prior experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Completion of NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Experience as a phlebotomist, taking blood samples from patients and working with Lab Technicians.
- Competency in conducting ECGs scans and supporting patients under the guidance of doctors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
