Risk Management Expertise

As a Senior Strategic Underwriter at Ageas UK, you will be responsible for assimilating large quantities of information to make recommendations on how the company can remain at the forefront of the UK Insurance industry.

Main Responsibilities

  • Research and develop new underwriting concepts to maximize account profitability
  • Work closely with underwriting teams, risk and market pricing teams, and external partners to ensure strategic deliverables are met
  • Evaluate new scheme, affinity, and product propositions to identify potential profitability and recommend necessary underwriting changes
  • Lead specific underwriting project work streams, overseeing the development and implementation of new initiatives, product changes, and new products
  • Support the coordination of strategic deliverables with key external underwriting and pricing partners to ensure clear communication to stakeholders and alignment of internal views and priorities

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of working in a Personal Lines Underwriting environment, a sound understanding of underwriting principles, and experience of a wide range of technical issues
  • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to analyze, interpret, and identify trends within large volumes of data and make and present clear and accurate recommendations
  • Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office, and willing to learn new applications
  • Practiced time management experience, a sound understanding of numbers, and the ability to quickly identify inconsistencies in data, an analytical thinker who is able to deduce information and who has proven decision-making skills
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing, able to communicate technical issues in a clear and helpful way, exhibits good questioning and listening skills, able to persuade and influence others, and well-developed negotiation skills
