Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is a leading healthcare provider in the North West, hosting the North West Cervical Screening service. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our busy service as a Cervical Screening Service Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the cervical screening service, including equipment management, financial management, staff training and supervision, and consumables monitoring. They will also liaise closely with the Cervical Cytology management team, the Cellular Pathology Laboratory Manager, and Clinical team to ensure provision of a high-quality service.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to develop their skills and expertise in a high-quality, safe and efficient service at the forefront of future advances in pathology. The department is committed to developing the Advanced BMS Team with opportunities for operational management training or further study for the Advanced Specialist Diploma in Cervical Cytology for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 15189 standards.
  • Lead a team of Cytology Screeners, BMS and support staff to achieve excellence in sample processing and reporting.
  • Liaise closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
Person SpecificationEducation & Qualifications
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • IBMS accredited degree acceptable to the HCPC
  • Relevant qualification to Masters level or HCS Apprenticeship level 7 or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience in Cervical Cytopathology
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience of the ISO 15189 standards and service provision
Salary and Benefits
