Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to work with children aged 0-19 years with complex needs and long-term neurodevelopmental conditions.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across our 3 bases, developing their skills in a specialist clinical area. They will also work with external organisations such as Education and the Local Authority to provide a comprehensive service to our families.

We offer a comprehensive induction, ongoing clinical and managerial support from experienced specialist staff, regular in-house training, and opportunities for involvement in service development. Our Physiotherapists use different consultation approaches to support our families, including digital, face-to-face, and specialist treatment interventions.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be responsible for their designated workload within their speciality area, with access to support, advice, and management from a senior clinician. They will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient-centred programmes of care, ensuring they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of common aetiologies, pathologies, conditions, and presentations.
  • Apply theory to practice at a proficient level when assessing, planning, treating, and reviewing using a holistic philosophy.
  • Develop physical skills to demonstrate accuracy and dexterity when delivering care and treatments essential to the clinical role.
  • Makes judgements requiring analysis, interpretation, and comparison of options, and ensures clinical reasoning is reflected accurately in case records.
  • Engage and actively involve the individual and, if appropriate, their family or carer, in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of treatment and care.
  • Work to standards of proficiency identified by their professional and regulatory bodies, performing clinical treatments or procedures to a competent standard.
  • Prioritise their own workload within agreed objectives, deciding when to refer to others as appropriate.
  • Approach each individual with care, compassion, and sensitivity, ensuring that these values are reflected in the management of any complaints and compliments.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information, where motivational, persuasive, empathetic, negotiating, and reassurance skills are required.
