Job Title: Software Development Systems Manager

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Systems Manager to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a key member of our Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Group, you will be responsible for managing the delivery and ongoing development of software applications that support and improve STFC's SHE management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the delivery and ongoing development of software applications that support and improve STFC's SHE management.
  • Lead and champion the use of IT solutions to drive improvement in the operational effectiveness of the SHE Group.
  • Review current SHE IT solutions and identify opportunities for development and improvement.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure consistency with STFC's IT corporate architecture.
  • Project manage the implementation and ongoing development of third-party cloud-based software applications.
  • Manage the STFC SHE website and ensure its content is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Establish a service desk system for recording and resolving SHE IT system issues.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and STFC's IT security policies.
  • Provide first-line support for the SHE Group in all IT matters.
  • Manage the SHE Group IT budget and develop future budgets.
  • Manage key sources of SHE Management Information (MI) and develop ad-hoc and routine management reports.
Requirements:
  • Experience of at least two of the current IT systems.
  • Experience of IT project management and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and within a dynamic, agile team environment.
  • ITIL Foundation or prepared to work towards it within the first 12 months.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of agile software development.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience using software testing frameworks.
  • Experience in customer requirements capture, analysis, and specification.
  • Experience in modern, responsive web development.
  • Ability to develop online training packages.
