Role Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in achieving their full potential. This challenging yet rewarding role will give you the opportunity to work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

**Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver one-to-one support to students with SEND, both in and out of the classroom, to facilitate engagement with learning activities and attainment of learning goals.
  2. Contribute to the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies, under the guidance of the SENCO and classroom teachers.
  3. Provide practical support to students, including personal care, mobility assistance, and sensory integration activities, as needed.
  4. Create a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate.
  5. Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and wellbeing of students with SEND.
  6. Maintain accurate records of student progress, observations, and interventions, according to school policies and procedures.

**Essential Requirements:**

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in an educational setting or a similar environment.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient in addressing challenges and adapting to the unique needs of each student.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teamwork, with a willingness to take initiative and contribute to the broader school community.
  • A commitment to upholding safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as Teaching Assistance, Special Educational Needs, Childcare, or Psychology would be beneficial.
