About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs and Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team at Lidl GB. As a key member of our Customs team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth import and export of goods into and out of the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classification and Data Entry: Collect and analyze detailed information from various sources to enable accurate classification of goods, ensuring compliance with UK Customs regulations.
  • Trade Compliance: Perform and review classifications, recording the basis for classification decisions, and investigate trade agreements, import requirements, and prohibitions/restrictions related to classified products.
  • Support to Buying and International Teams: Collaborate with buying and international teams to determine whether products meet qualifying requirements, providing expert advice on Customs procedures and regulations.
  • Classification Log and Process Improvement: Develop and maintain our classification log, built from various internal data sources, and improve and maintain processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communication and Training: Communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders, transferring technical Customs knowledge to operational business teams.
Requirements
  • Experience: Prior experience in the Customs landscape is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of Import and Export Customs procedures, working knowledge of the UK Tariff Schedule, and application of the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI) and Explanatory Notes is highly beneficial.
  • Skills: Proficient working knowledge of Excel, good communication skills, ability to adapt language when necessary, teamwork and collaboration skills, excellent organizational skills, and a highly focused and accurate approach with an uncompromising eye for detail.
