About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teacher to join our team at Empowering Learning in Nottingham. As an Academic SEN Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of subjects within our SEND school setting.
  • Plan engaging lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.
  • Support students with their work in a class setting, promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Manage challenging behaviours and implement our school's behaviour policy.
  • Safeguard vulnerable pupils and provide a safe learning environment.
  • Supervise students during lunch and break times, fostering a positive school culture.
  • Support teaching assistants within the classroom, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Build strong relationships with staff and students, enhancing overall school experience.
  • Collect evidence of student progress, informing assessments and evaluations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to relevant staff members, promoting student development.
  • Pastoral care for a group of students, addressing their unique needs and concerns.
  • Potentially lead in a subject area, developing your expertise and skills.
Requirements
  • Dedicated SEND Teacher or equivalent qualification.
  • High level of understanding of different SEND and learning styles.
  • Ability to teach across various age groups and individual needs.
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary age curriculum expectations.
  • Excellent organisational skills and effective communication.
  • Desire to work with, inspire, and support students from all backgrounds and needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and knowledge of PMLD.
  • Understanding of the Teachers' Standards and expectations.
