Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Allied Health Professional/Nurse to lead the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit as part of the Stroke Department within the Medicine Care Group. This is a fixed-term appointment for 24 months, offering an exciting opportunity to enhance inpatient care and discharge from hospital of patients undergoing rehabilitation following a stroke.

Main Duties

  • Develop and lead the rehabilitation beds on the stroke rehabilitation unit, including admission, discharge, and patient care.
  • Be responsible for a defined caseload of patients and work across the entire stroke pathway to facilitate the development of a coordinated service for patients with stroke.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external partners to optimize transitions of care.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of stroke rehabilitation.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant from a Nursing or AHP background to join our team and contribute to the holistic, multidisciplinary care and rehabilitation of patients who have experienced a stroke. The postholder will work closely with our Consultant Physiotherapist and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care and support to patients and their families.

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will work 3 days per week, with a flexible working schedule to be agreed. The post is based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and the successful candidate will be required to work across the stroke rehabilitation unit and other areas of the hospital as needed.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stroke rehabilitation and a passion for delivering high-quality care. They will be a skilled communicator and team player, with excellent leadership and management skills. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care and outcomes.
