About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team as a Project Lead. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading electrical design projects from inception to completion, working closely with our clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Project Management
    • Design safe, economical, and reliable electrical systems to meet contractual scope and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
    • Develop clear and concise drawings, specifications, and product schedules to define electrical systems.
    • Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines to minimize conflicts and avoid costly revisions.
  • Project Coordination and Management
    • Work well within the team and manage medium-sized projects internally and externally in respect of deliverables, resources, and financials.
    • Assist with the review of appointment documents and scopes of service.
    • Set targets and monitor workload against deliverables.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Demonstrate a good level of oral and written communication, setting the highest standards of communication both internally and externally.
    • Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Health and Safety
    • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations, specifically the Designers' requirements.
    • Ensure completion of all risk assessment documentation in a timely manner.
    • Report all accidents/incidents or near misses.
  • Training and HR Management
    • Coordinate junior staff internally, providing mentoring and leadership and help to identify opportunities for junior staff to develop.
    • Provide constructive feedback to junior staff.
    • Promote team morale and encourage cooperation, collaboration, and team working.
  • Technical and Financial
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of BSRIA BG6 and RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM, and renewable technologies.
    • Ensure proficiency in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Trimble (formerly Amtech) or Cymap, DIALux or similar.
    • Develop ability to use AutoCAD and Revit.
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project costing principles and control changes during project development.
    • Utilize strong financial management skills to negotiate additional fees with the client that may be due.
  • Project Interface
    • Represent the company at design team and client meetings with confidence.
    • Liaise with clients and others to obtain technical and operational information relating to the projects.
    • Maintain a project overview at all times, able to provide updates on project status to client and others whenever required.
