The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within an inpatient ward, responsible for assessing patient care needs and developing and evaluating programs of care. They will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers, and other professionals, in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.

Key responsibilities include regularly taking charge of the ward, supervising and teaching junior staff, and mentoring nurses undergoing basic or post-basic training. The post-holder will be expected to practice within a legal and ethical framework, as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct, national mental health-related legislation, and national and local policy, guidelines, and protocols.

Shift patterns are rotational day/night, 11.55 hour shifts, Monday to Sunday. We encourage applications from all sections of the community and promote a culture of inclusion across the organisation.

We are reducing our full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro-rata for part-time staff. You may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid.
