About the Role

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Immunisation Nurse to join their team. As a member of the School Age Vaccination Service, you will play a crucial role in supporting the safe delivery and triage of nasal flu and other vaccination programmes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess young people and understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, including understanding contra-indications, aftercare, and relevant advice to provide.
  • Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse, adhering to local Safeguarding Children's Board guidelines.
  • Ensure up-to-date statutory and mandatory training, including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Immunisation training.
  • Maintain effective communication and liaison with nursing disciplines and allied professions.
  • Provide support, mentorship, guidance, and supervision to junior and non-qualified staff members.
  • Maintain personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, adhering to recognised codes of practice and Trust policies on Health and Safety.

Job Requirements
  • Administer vaccines according to the national immunisation schedule.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of immunisations given.
  • Provide education and information to patients and families about immunisation, including potential side effects and the importance of vaccines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunisation.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, pharmacists, and social workers.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and campaigns to promote immunisation.
Working Conditions
  • The role may involve travel to different locations to provide immunisation clinics in schools, community centres, and other settings.
