Job Title: Assistant Head Teacher/SENDCo

Job Type: Permanent – Full Time (School Terms)

Location: Norwich, Norfolk

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Head Teacher/SENDCo to join our team at ARC (Norwich) Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of pupil timetables, ensuring EHCP outcomes are met, and mentoring and evaluating teaching staff to ensure targeted and delivered CPD.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's SEND provision across school
  • Participate in curriculum and management planning meetings with colleagues, parents, and other agencies
  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and policies
  • Work on curriculum and pupil development to secure improved outcomes
  • Provide cover in unforeseen circumstances
  • Support and guide parents, carers, and external professionals to manage personalised learning plans

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status and ability to meet the needs of SEND pupils
  • SENCO qualification
  • NPQ Award
  • Experience of leading subjects and teams
  • Ability to effectively manage behaviour to ensure positive and safe learning environments
  • Experience of working with and strong knowledge of children with SEN and how they learn
  • Ability to communicate effectively with high levels of organisation
  • Experience of Ofsted Inspections
  • Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of the Independent School Standards
  • Knowledge and experience of EHCP reviews
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
  • Experience in leading CPD to staff and Personal education Plans (PEP)
