About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Practice Assistant to join our team at Prestige Medical Group. As a General Practice Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of our clinics, allowing our GPs to focus on patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and code clinical correspondence, prioritizing tasks for the GP.
  • Signpost correspondence to other team members, such as clinical pharmacists.
  • Arrange appointments, referrals, letters, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Prepare patients for GP appointments, taking brief histories and basic readings.
  • Perform clinical observations and skills, such as dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, phlebotomy, and vaccinations, within competences.
  • Complete basic forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Assist the GP in liaising with outside agencies.

Prestige Medical Group is a multi-disciplinary service offering care to 16,000 patients in Burnley. Our team of 49 members includes 6 GP partners, 6 other GPs, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 1 Paramedic Practitioner, 2 Specialist Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Assistant Practitioner, 2 GPAs, and a highly skilled admin team. We are a long-established training practice, providing placements and employment opportunities to Physician Associates and Paramedics.

Person Specification

  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • HCA Training or equivalent in own field (desirable)
  • Practice receptionist training (desirable)
  • Care Certificate (desirable)
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (desirable)
