Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to our General Practitioners, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinics and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and code clinical correspondence, prioritizing tasks for the GP in terms of actions required.
  • Signpost correspondence to other team members, such as clinical pharmacists.
  • Arrange appointments, referrals, letters, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Prepare patients for GP appointments, taking brief histories and basic readings.
  • Dip urine, take blood pressure, perform ECGs, phlebotomy, and vaccinations within competences.
  • Complete basic forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Assist the GP in liaising with outside agencies.

Requirements

  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • IT literacy.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across multiple sites.
  • Good understanding of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates basic factual knowledge of the field of work.
  • Excellent communication skills.
