We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Specialist to join our team at Vistry Group PLC. As an SHE Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe planning, delivery, and review of complex projects across the construction and maintenance industry.
Key Responsibilities- Support Vistry Group in the safe planning, delivery, and review of projects, ensuring compliance with SHE Policies, Standards, and legislation.
- Facilitate the implementation of policies and procedures to reduce risk and promote a positive SHE culture.
- Drive and promote the Vistry Group's behavioural approach through site visits, management meetings, and forums.
- Support the successful implementation of the Group's ActivSHEQ database and input data as required.
- Support SHE line management in implementing Group SHE Standards and report any issues arising on site or within business units.
- Actively support business units in regular SHE Management Reviews to assess and improve performance.
- Support the business in measuring and monitoring performance against Group and Divisional Sustainability Route Maps.
- Maintain a dynamic and driven approach to promoting and supporting SHE across the Group.
- Promote Vistry Group as a business that effectively manages SHE through communications with external professionals.
- Provide specialist support through advice and guidance for pre-qualification and tender documentation.
- Assist site management in preparing construction SHE Plans and review them at each monthly safety, health, and environmental review.
- Carry out formal SHE reviews on all sites, ensuring compliance with Vistry Group SHE Policies, Standards, and legislation.
- Identify areas/operations requiring specific safety, health, and/or environmental instructions and organise and undertake this instruction on site.
- Provide information in the form of instructions, Best Practice Guidance, Codes of Practice, Information Sheets, etc.
- Ensure induction instructions are reviewed every month for relevance to current operations.
- Assist project teams in reviewing high-risk contractors' method statements and monitor implementation on site.
- Assist business units in the performance management of subcontractors.
- Ensure projects are being carried out to meet Vistry Group SHE standards.
- NEBOSH Construction or equivalent diploma.
- Experience in the construction industry would be beneficial.
- Experience in a Safety Advisor role within Residential Construction or Tier 1 Contracting.
- Member of a Professional Body, progressing to Chartered status.
- Experience in housebuilding desirable.
