Job Overview

The Deputy Divisional Clinical Director will work closely with the Divisional Director of Operations and the Divisional Director of Nursing in a collaborative management structure. Together, they will take joint accountability for the Surgery Division, including the delivery of agreed local and national quality and performance standards within budgetary and resource constraints.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership within the Surgery Division and ensure that all clinical staff are aligned with the Division's and Trust's objectives.
  • Embed effective systems of job planning, objective setting, and appraisals.
  • Support the development of other clinical leads in the division, including clinical directors and service leads.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be a consultant with a current licence to practice in good standing with the GMC or a senior clinical professional with equivalent experience and qualifications. They will have a strong track record of managing clinical services, leading change, and developing and implementing strategies.

They will also have a good knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, and quality assurance, as well as experience of managing and leading multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of current NHS strategy and policy, as well as financial and budgetary management skills.
