Nurse Practitioner in Intellectual Disabilities

We are looking for a skilled Nurse Practitioner in Intellectual Disabilities to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
You will work collaboratively with individuals, carers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, focusing on person-centred approaches and risk assessments. Your expertise will also be used to educate and train staff across various sectors, enhancing their knowledge of learning disability and mental health.
This role offers opportunities for growth and development, as you will be involved in assessing, developing, planning, and evaluating programmes of care. You will also have access to regular supervision and training sessions to maintain and enhance your skills in safeguarding and child protection.
Responsibilities and Requirements- To deliver exceptional care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, focusing on person-centred planning and risk assessments.
- To contribute to the assessment, planning, and implementation of programmes of care for children with intellectual disabilities within the Pan Dorset ID CAMHS team.
- To work closely with individuals, carers, and multi-professional teams to develop and review comprehensive care plans.
- To share your clinical expertise with staff from social services and the independent sector, promoting awareness of learning disability and mental health.
- To prioritize safeguarding throughout your role, attending regular supervision and training sessions, addressing safeguarding concerns, and recording these incidents electronically.
Requirements:
- A registered nurse qualification in Learning Disabilities or Mental Health Nursing.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and training for CPD purposes.
- Experience working at a band 5 level.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles.
- The ability to manage time effectively, prioritize workload, and collaborate well within a multi-agency team.

Salary DetailsThe estimated salary for this position is £38,890 - £44,884 per annum, reflecting the demands and expectations of this challenging yet rewarding role.
