We're currently looking for a Compliance and Quality Assurance Specialist for Retail who will play a crucial role in upholding these values. This role will be based in Manchester, with frequent travel to our retail supermarkets in the North West Region, including Liverpool, Lancashire, and the Lake District.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Health & Safety, Trading Standards, and Food Safety legislation. They will also possess lead assessor qualifications or auditing experience in one or more of the Safe & Legal disciplines. A recognized HACCP qualification to at least Intermediate Level is also required.

This role involves managing safe and legal standards across all aspects of our business, from logistics and manufacturing sites to stores, suppliers, and own-brand products. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation of the microbiological safety and quality aspects of high-risk products, as well as knowledge of catering, retail, or manufacturing in one or more of the Safe & Legal Disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a safe and legal management service for retail stores, supporting logistics when necessary.
  • Proactively attend regional and store meetings to build engagement with senior teams and share data trends.
  • Manage activity where serious safety or legality concerns have been identified and work with stores and sites to improve standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to manage Enforcement activity, arrange support, disseminate information, and liaise with Enforcement Officers to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Provide a reactive service for serious food safety, trading standards, and health & safety issues and incidents.
  • Support central teams by providing timely information and advice.
About You

We're looking for someone with a strong customer focus and a positive attitude. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence others. In-depth knowledge and understanding of catering, retail, or manufacturing in one or more of the Safe & Legal Disciplines are essential.
