Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Planning and Operations Specialist to join our team at Speedy Freight. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective use of our vehicles and drivers to deliver excellent customer service and achieve business objectives.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for negotiating prices with subcontracted drivers, managing driver communication, and ensuring that internal tracking systems are up-to-date and accurate. You will also play a key role in achieving specific targets related to margin, costs per mile, and vehicle utilisation.

You will work closely with our General Manager, Customer Service Advisors, and other employees to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company objectives. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective transport plans to ensure customer and business requirements are met.
  • Negotiate prices with subcontracted drivers to achieve best value for the company.
  • Manage driver communication and performance to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Ensure that internal tracking systems are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Achieve specific targets related to margin, costs per mile, and vehicle utilisation.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and other employees to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of transportation planning and operations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including some evening and weekend shifts.
