About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in hands-on maintenance and repair or fabrication roles in a fast-paced industrial environment. You will conduct regular inspections of conveyor belts and sortation controls, respond to breakdowns, and carry out preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections of conveyor belts and sortation controls to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Respond to breakdowns and troubleshoot technical problems with conveyor belts and sortation controls, including identifying faulty components, replacing parts, and resetting systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on conveyor belts and sortation controls, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration.
- Work with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and protocols.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the maintenance of conveyor belts and sortation controls and provide recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Provide guidance and support to junior technicians and apprentices.
- Proven experience in a hands-on maintenance/repair or fabrication role preferably in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of conveyor belt and sortation control systems, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components desirable but not essential.
- Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Qualification in an engineering or technical discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience working in a safe and clean working environment.
The successful candidate will be required to work a 4on 4off shift pattern, including weekends and nights.
Salary InformationThe salary for this position is £39,139 per annum.
