Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Literacy Specialist to join our team at Wayman Learning Trust, supporting students with special educational needs in Merton.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of our students by helping them improve their literacy skills through targeted interventions and personalized learning plans. As a key member of our SEN team, you will have the chance to foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student confidence and motivation.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging English and literacy lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs, utilizing effective teaching strategies and resources.
  • Implement targeted interventions and personalized learning plans to support literacy development, collaborating with the SEN team and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to facilitate improvement, and foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching English and literacy preferably to students with special educational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of effective literacy intervention strategies and personalized learning approaches, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • A clear DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for professional development and career growth.
