Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Services department of a large acute Trust, where you will be part of a small team providing an efficient customer-focused payments service.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking various duties, including data input, scanning and registration, and dealing with queries from suppliers.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of purchase ledger in an NHS environment (or similar) and be working towards an accounting qualification.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, together with the ability to deal with people at all levels.

Main Duties of the Job

You will need to be able to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, prioritising a busy workload to adhere to challenging Department of Health deadlines.

You will need to be organised and methodical, proactive in improving processes, and committed to your own personal development.

This is a full-time position based at Unit F, Hermitage Lane, with a requirement to be in the office 3 days a week and work from home 2 days.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Studying for knowledge and experience to NVQ level 2 / AAT Foundation Level or equivalent.
  • European Computer Driving licence (ECDL) or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE Mathematics.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Ideally experience of working within the Payables team required.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong team working skills essential, commitment to supporting colleagues both within and external to finance.
  • Make judgements relating to accounting treatments e.g. Accrual & Prepayments decisions.
  • Ability to resolve routine queries and enquiries and report issues as required.
  • Be able to recognise sensitive or confidential situations/information and react accordingly.
  • Standard Keyboard Skills / Inputting data into computer Databases.
  • Ability to create & input data into financial spreadsheets.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Trust systems (e.g. Integra) desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of VAT is desirable.
