Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Oncologist to join our team at the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, and support staff to provide high-quality cancer care to patients from across the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Duties

The appointee will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive oncology service, including regular outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings, radiotherapy planning, and systemic anti-cancer therapy prescribing. They will also contribute to the development of clinical governance and service improvement initiatives within the trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality cancer care to patients from across the trust
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning
  • Prescribe systemic anti-cancer therapies and manage side effects
  • Contribute to clinical governance and service improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and educate junior medical staff and AHPs
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in medical oncology, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a CCT in clinical oncology or equivalent, full GMC registration, and experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
