Job Description

**Job Title:** Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

**Location:** Sheffield, South Yorkshire

**Pay Scale:** £95 - £115 per day

**Contract Type:** Full Time

**Job Summary:**

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to provide support to children with autism in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism, promoting their educational and social development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring tailored support for each student.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment, fostering social skills and behavior management.
  • Support students in managing their behavior, developing social skills, and achieving their educational goals.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources, ensuring a well-organized and effective learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, upholding the highest standards of care and support.

**Essential Requirements:**

  • Experience working with children with autism or in a similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers and support staff to achieve shared goals.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring the well-being and safety of students at all times.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable, but not essential.
