Senior Consultant Anaesthetist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant General Anaesthetist to join our dedicated team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our anaesthetic services.
Main Responsibilities- Provide a flexible anaesthetic service to a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.
- Participate in the on-call rota for general anaesthesia, including maternity cover on call, and contribute to the development of a system of mutual out-of-hours cover with other consultants.
- Collaborate with other consultants to provide a comprehensive anaesthetic service, including the development of protocols and guidelines for patient care.
- Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties within the trust.
- Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
- Contribute to the teaching and training of postgraduate and undergraduate trainees in anaesthesia.
- Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities within the department and the trust.
- Develop and promote an interest in research in anaesthesia, and contribute to the development of research projects and protocols.

Person Specification- FRCAResearch Anaesthetist or equivalent qualification in anaesthesia.
- MBBS or Basic Medical Degree, with full GMC registration.
- On the UK GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion of UK anaesthetic training, or eligible for the UK GMC Specialist Register at the date of interview.
