We are seeking a skilled pharmacy technician to contribute to the development of medicines management activities at ward level, including medication history taking and reconciliation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dispensary and patient services, with excellent technical and clinical pharmaceutical knowledge.
Main Responsibilities- Participate in the development of medicines management activities at ward level
- Coordinate the supply of medication to ensure good medicines management practices
- Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary ward team and the wider pharmacy team, providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals and patients/carers
- Participate in local and national audits and provide information as required
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is a diverse provider of NHS mental and learning disability services in Greater Manchester. Our mental health pharmacy team in Tameside is small and friendly, offering opportunities for self-development and impacting change.
Key Requirements- BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Registered with the GPhC/proof of application in process
- Accuracy checking accreditation
- Substantial experience as a qualified technician in hospital pharmacy
- Substantial experience of dispensary and ward-based services
- Experience of implementing change and new developments
- Experience of developing guidelines/protocols/SOP
- Experience of training healthcare professionals/unqualified staff
- Experience of audit
- Good IT skills (including word processing and spreadsheets)
- Self-motivated
- Data Analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary, multi-agency groups
- Ability to identify when advice needs to be sought
